The Festival "The Night of yokhor"

5 - 6 july, 2014, Ulan-Ude


The outdoor celebration each year attracts more and more people who are willing to dance yokhor and recharge themselves from the energy of the sacred dance. Yokhor is the ancient circular Buryat dance that reflects the solar circle. The dance is always accompanied by chants of dance participants.

At annual festival the representatives of various areas of Buryatia and Irkutsk region compete in the best performance of yokhor. At the end of the celebration everybody stands in the circle for Grand Yokhor. The festival has become the personification of people unity.

The benefits of the festival format (direct interaction between participants, their greater intimacy through the dance movements and chants) are naturally combined with the training format of master classes for film directors, heads of folk groups, ensembles and virtually everyone.
