"Images of Russia in the music of Russian composers" Exhibition to Open in Rostov Region
The All-Russian museum union of musical culture named after M.I. Glinka presents the exhibition "Images of Russia in the music of Russian composers" in Taganrog jointly with the international charity fund for preservation of cultural and historical heritage "The Angel of Russia".
The exhibition features the unique musical manuscripts by P.I. Tchaikovsky, S.V. Rakhmaninov, M.P. Mussorgsky, A.P. Borodin, church-singing books of XVIII-XIX centuries, rare prints and photographs, paintings by Russian artists from the funds of the union.
Notes’ autographs and editions of works by Russian composers on historical themes and plots – the opera "The Life for the Tsar" by M.I. Glinka, "Boris Godunov" and "Khovanshchina" by M.P. Mussorgsky, Solemn overture "1812" and the cantata "Moscow" by P.I. Tchaikovsky are among exhibits of the exhibition.
The death of Emperor Alexander I in Taganrog was the cause for A.A. Alyabyev and princess Z.A. Volkonskaya to create two choral compositions.
Note publishing business of Russia in the late XIX – early XX centuries is represented by lavishly illustrated publications.
The exhibition also boasts a number of paintings by famous Russian artists from the collection of the outstanding conductor, composer, teacher and passionate collector N.S. Golovanov.
The exhibition dates are: July 2 – August 3, 2014.
